Karen and I went for a last walk - I had a little trouble choosing where I wanted to go. There are so many trails I enjoyed while I was here but we ended up walking around downtown. Karen even treated me to one last ice cream cone from The Fudge Store.
One last look! |
Monday evening, Sarah, Rosie and I went back out to the Mendenhall Glacier to watch for bears. The glacier definitely tops my favorite list. The sun was setting and the glacier looked beautiful in the light. Score!! We saw more bears. This one had been fishing and drew a crowd to watch her eat. She had her back turned to us but she had three salmon she was eating.
Dinner time. |
Rosie just figured out I was taking their picture. |
After hugging Sarah's neck one last time, I tried to take a nap for a couple of hours and headed for the ferry terminal. It's really hard telling your daughter goodbye when you know you won't see her for a year!!! I had an absolutely wonderful time in Alaska. Beautiful place and great company.
Friday morning I will be back in Bellingham, WA.
I'll decide on the ferry what I am going to do on Friday and Saturday and then meet my friends in Seattle on Sunday morning.

This tugged at my heart, Peggy. Goodbyes are the hardest thing. You certainly packed a lot of beautiful experiences into your two months in Alaska, and you and Sarah will both always have those memories of the time you shared. You'll probably be so busy settling in when you get to your new home, that year before seeing Sarah again will FLY by!!
