Ferry Ride "Down South" to Bellingham

Ferry - The Columbia
Catch & Release in Sitka
The ferry left Juneau at 4 a.m. on August 3.  The route was a little different this time and our first stop was in Sitka for about 4-5 hours waiting on a favorable tide to go through the Wrangell Narrows.  I got off and went for a walk to the end of the road and watched some "catch and release" fisherman.  They were reeling them in!!!   We also made short stops in Wrangell and Petersburg and then a two hour stop in Ketchican.  I got off in Ketchican and walked around near the ferry but didn't go into town this time.  There was a tour bus at the terminal waiting for anyone who wanted a quick tour.

Solarium - I was under the overhang.
As before, the ferry was a lot of fun and I met lots of interesting people.  Several of us traded emails, etc so I hope to be in touch with them.  This time I claimed a chaise lounge in the Solarium and slept outside for three nights.    It was wonderful!!!   My sleeping bag was nice and warm and I used my cooler for a bedside table.  All the comforts of home:)   They had the heaters on the first night but the second night they had to turn half of them off.  We were roasting - it was like being under a broiler.  The last night they didn't even turn them on.  Great place to sleep and hang out during the day.  During the trip I read an Alaskan mystery by Dana Stabanow.  Seemed appropriate:)
Sunset

I was the last car in this line:)
We saw a lot more whales on this trip which is always fun and the scenery was beautiful.  The ferry arrived right on time Friday morning.  I was practically the last car off but didn't have any trouble.  The ferry is a great way to see Alaska - highly recommend it.

The next few days I will be in Seattle.  Should be lots of fun!!!

Wow, what a fantastic ferry ride. This REALLY makes me want to get out on the water. You must have felt like a happy kid sleeping on the lounge in the Solarium -- I know I would have! Beautiful photos, as always. I'm looking forward to hearing about Seattle.

First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your head prior to writing. I've had a tough time clearing my mind in
getting my ideas out. I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or tips?

Many thanks!
