Britex in San Francisco - Fabric Heaven

Wednesday I went to San Francisco so I could spend a couple of hours at Britex (this will be boring for all you non-sewers!!).  Four floors of sewing bliss!  The bottom two floors are fabrics of all kinds, the third floor is buttons and notions, and the top is remnants and interfacings, etc.  I started at the top and worked my way down just taking it all in.

I found some great fabric on the second floor to add to the stash!!!  I bought some purple/green that is gorgeous on both sides for a shirt/jacket.  But, what side do I use??   I have in mind using a Sewing Workshop pattern that will show both sides.  There was some RPL that blended perfectly so that will be made into some new pants.  Back to the third floor for buttons:)  They have an amazing array of buttons!!!  And I do mean amazing - a whole wall full of buttons of every size, shape and color and made from all sorts of materials.  I ended up with some square ones:)

                                Buttons, Buttons, and More Buttons!!!

Makes me want to sew:)

OK, now I'm truly jealous!!! My heart leaps every time I read another post about all these wonderful places you're exploring in what used to be my home. I can hardly wait to see what you make out of your Britex treasures once you get settled enough to unpack your machines. And your Chez Panisse lunch sounded outstanding!

You started with interfacings? I have to ask, how long were you there? What time of night do they kick you out?

Oh, my! So many buttons! I've never seen them displayed like that, or nearly that many, for that matter!

Yup, pattern that shows both sides of your purple/green (!) fabric is the way to go!

What a pretty, PRETTY button picture! You should use it as a header or sidebar photo!

Peggy, I am PEA GREEN, of a particular shade that you would have NO PROBLEM matching at Britex. I can't even IMAGINE having something like this at my disposal, and it's probably a good thing I don't. The buttons ALONE are AMAZING. :o)
