Point Reyes National Seashore
Several people have recommended a visit to Point Reyes National Seashore and I am so glad they did. Today we met for breakfast at the Sunny Side Cafe - the first "green cafe" in Albany and then headed out to Point Reyes. After a quick stop at the Visitor Center for a map, we drove out to see the famous Point Reyes Lighthouse. Walking down was pretty easy but coming back up was the equivalent of walking up a 30 story building. That involved a couple of "breathing" stops !!!
We then drove to see the elephant seals and hike to Chimney Rock. The elephant seals were huge and it was amazing seeing them in their natural habitat. A lot different than Pier 39 in San Francisco!! We sat up at the top at Chimney Rock for quite a while enjoying the sunshine, beautiful view, wildflowers and peacefulness of it all. Next stop was the beach where we enjoyed the picnic lunch we had brought along. I just love the ocean - the smells and watching the waves roll in. Even stuck my toes in the Pacific Ocean for a minute!!!
We drove back along Highway 1 through Stinson Beach. Highway 1 is just as curvy as everyone says with more gorgeous views.
The day ended with a stop in Berkeley for some frozen yogurt.
There are more pictures of the day here. at my Flickr account.

That looks fabulous! I am now officially jealous. Is Doug getting ready for graduation? I remember my last semester before graduation, there was no way I had time to go site seeing. He must have planned better than I did.
I figured it out! The reason for your blog is to make me green with envy! I hope you dipped your toes in the Pacific for me too! Great pics!
Peggy,
Your pictures are so beautiful; you are either a wonderful photographer or have a perfect camera. I'm so impressed with all the time your family is sharing with you.
